Bus from Fermilab to Madison

Departure from Fermilab: June 1, at 3:30 PM. The pickup place will be at the Barn parking lot in the Fermilab Village. It takes approximately 2.5 — 3 hours to reach Madison. Dinner will be provided in the dormitory on June 1, please see the attached schedule.

Return to Fermilab: June 10, leave Madison at approximately 2 PM.


Lodging & Meals

Housing

Accommodation has been reserved for all participants at the Barnard/Chadbourne Dormitory on the UW Madison Campus. Accommodation is from June 1 — June 10, 2002. If you are staying beyond that point, please contact the secretariat to make other arrangements if you have not done so already.

Check in is at the Chadbourne Front Desk (the buildings are connected). The address of Barnard/Chadbourne Hall is 420 North Park Street, Madison.

As is customary with dormitory living, shared bath (by gender) facilities will be used.

Other arrangements have been made for CTEQ Lecturers and Members — you should have received individual confirmations.

Smoking is not allowed in any University Facility. You must go outside to smoke.


Meals

All meals will be served in Barnard/Chadbourne Hall Dining Room, including June 6, and are included in your registration fee. Lectures & Members will be given meal tickets by the secretariat for their meals in the dorms.


Concierge

The Barnard/Chadbourne Hall concierge is available to take messages 24 hours per day. The phone number is 608-262-2688. Messages will be placed in your room mailbox.

This will be a cash bar.

The registration desk will be staffed during the conference meeting times and a secretariat member will be available to answer questions throughout the conference.

Recitation Sessions & Night Cap

Sunday, June 2 — Sunday, June 9: Memorial Union, 800 Langdon Street. Check Today In The Union (TITU) for the room location for the Recitation session.

The Night Cap Session will be an informal opportunity for participants and lecturers to discuss the physics on a one-to-one (or one-to-few) basis. It will be held in the Paul Bunyan room of the Memorial Union. The "nightcap" (beverage) of your choice can be purchased in the Rathskeller of the Memorial Union.. http://www.union.wisc.edu/


Local Transportation

All classes are within walking distance of the dormitory. There are also a variety of shops, restaurants, etc. within walking distance. It is not recommended that you bring or rent a car unless absolutely necessary. Parking Permits for nearby lots will be available upon advance request.

There is local bicycle rental available. You can rent from Yellow Jersey, 419 State Street. Rates are: $18/24 hours; $38/4 days; $55/7 days. More information is available at http://www.yellowjersey.org/

Downtown Madison is served by the Madison city bus system. Cost is $1.50 per ride. If you request a transfer when you pay you can use that to return, within the time allotted on the transfer, at no additional cost.

Computing

To get the maximal benefit from the School we encourage you to immerse yourself in the topic and take advantage of opportunities to discuss issues with the experts in residence at the School. To emphasize this direction, there will be no computers available at the site of the lectures. For those who just have to read e-mail, please contact the secretariat.
