MORE MAPS AND DIRECTIONS

Via Air:

Madison is served by the Dane County Regional Airport, with more than 100 daily flights. There is nonstop air service from Chicago, Cincinnati, Denver, Detroit, Memphis, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Newark, and St. Louis. The commercial airlines serving Madison are:

A taxi from the airport to the downtown/campus area is a 15-20 minute ride (except during rush hour) and will cost around $14. Ground transportation information

If you are coming from outside the U.S. and have to buy a separate ticket to Madison, you might consider taking the bus from O'Hare airport in Chicago.

Via Bus:

The Van Galder Bus Company offers service between Chicago/O'Hare and the University of Wisconsin Memorial Union. Busses depart every 30 to 90 minutes and reach Madison in about 3.5 hours. The cost is $24 each way. The Memorial Union, at 800 Langdon St., is 2 blocks from the Lowell Center and 1 block from the Pyle Center. Greyhound Lines also serves Madison.

Via Auto from Fermilab:

From the Pine St. exit (west side of the Lab) take Kirk Rd. north (right). Go to Fabyan Rd. and turn left on to Fabyan Rd. Take Fabyan to Randall Rd. and turn right onto Randall (north). Take Randall to I-90.

  • Take I-90 West to Madison. It is about 100 mi. to the Madison exit, exit 142. (It's a LEFT exit).
  • Take Exit 142 left onto Hwy. 12&18 west.
  • Follow Hwy. 12&18 (the Beltline Hwy) for about 6 miles.
  • Exit at Park St. (Hwy 151 north), Exit 261B.
  • Turn right onto Park St. and go north about 2 miles to the UW campus.
  • Go about 2.5 miles through several (green) lights, across Regent St. to W. Johnson St.
  • Turn right onto W. Johnson St.
  • Move into left lane and turn left onto Lake St.
  • Two public parking ramps that charge by the hour are available on Lake St. and Francis St., within a 5-minute walk to the Pyle Center.
  • On-street parking is VERY difficult to find on campus, and university parking lots requiring permits are closely patrolled. So public ramps or metered campus ramps are the way to go if you're not parking at a hotel.
